4 different types of film openings

Titles superimposed on a blank screen

Usually uses white type face on a black background to create contrast.
This was used by studios who are at low budget.

Titles accompanied with still images

Requires combining media to make the background.

Titles with moving images

moving images serves to offer:

  • metaphor
  • narrative thread
to help introduce the tone or the storyline of the film to the audience.

Titles built around animation and motion graphics

This category title sequence requires a lot of digital technology and stylised editing.

Conclusion:

Titles with moving images , i believe that is the most affective as it shows so much in so little time.
one example of a Title sequence i picked is World War Z Opening Sequence , it clearly shows off its moving images of natural and landscaping images which make it look really interesting as they are also edited in an interesting way.
You can clearly see the titles of given credits in bold white colour on the left hand bottom side of the screen. Some black shadows also appear after some cut scenes making the the titles stand out as they are written bright white in a dark black background.
It is also a good idea to have moving images on the screen so it gives some kind of clue about the movie or a hint about the beginning , it also doesn't create boredom.
