MACRO elements -
The key plot idea that is introduced in the sequence is the History behind the character. He slowly explains what has happened to him in the past life and what he is continuing to do , this brings the movie to action.
We only get introduced to 2 characters at the start of the sequence as the narrating voice continues. We see one character talking about his past , and we get sent to a flashback of the other character straight away as he narrates.
MICRO analyses -
CAMERA-
The shot distance that is used is extreme close up of the gates , machines , hands , weapons, fangs , sheets of paper written on , bullets and faces of characters. This shows of the genre of the movie ( Sci-fi ) + ( horror ) as weapons and all kinds of other props are being showed.
The movement is very slow and calm as the character prepares his gear , the camera uses a close up to show what is happening in that scene.
The framing is well used , we can see all the characters well through out the sequence.
EDITING-
Cuts are well edited and well prepared e.g the flashback is well shown as we get sent straight to the point that he is making. It continues at a slow paste , so we can see all the details and ideas behind his narrating. In the middle of the sequence we see special effects , we see the X-ray effect of the two characters as well as some black shadows passing by as the sequence continues.
MISE-EN-SCENE-
The location that it is set in is a Warehouse/old building. It seems to be very ghostly like area , with dark and shady colours , could represent a very secretive place.
Main character is wearing a black leather trench coat, black leather gloves , bullet proof vest and weaponry around him , indicating that he is getting ready for a battle or is super secretive about who he is in the movie.
The props that are used are all kinds of weaponry and gadgets. We also see bullets , knifes and paper sheets everywhere.
The lightening is only used on shining the props , making them look more visible as the the whole screen stays dark, this really shows off the prop and the idea of how it is being used by the character.
SOUND-
Through out the whole title sequence we hear the main character narrating the story , this is affective as it prepares the audience for action.
The music that is being use is very action like , it sounds really quick and fierce , this is very different to the speed of the whole sequence as it is very slow and easy like. We also hear sound affects of bullets being thrown on the table and the exaggeration of the shine and the sharpness of the knife.
The order of the title credits are as followed:
- New Line Cinema (presenters)
- Producers ( Amen Ra Films )
- Associations
- Character names are not shown
