Codes and conventions: Are messages or signifiers of a genre.
Genre tropes: Cliche codes and convention elements of a genre that have been over used for instance in horror movies they use the same techniques to scare the audience.

Action gangster- we can tell its action/ gangster due to the clothing used for instance to connote its gagster they wore suits and looked like Mafia men.

Action Adventure- You can tell its action adventure as the car is falling in the sky and the main protagonists look like they are going to jump. This is a convention of action due to the props used.

    Thriller/Horror- You can tell its horror due to the masks worn which connotes danger. The holds a machete which is associated with horror.
