Genre/Sub-genre of Film

We have decided to create a Youth Drama film. One reason behind this is that we went out of our way to attempt and do something not as common as horror/thriller etc. Although choosing a genre that isn’t as common for this task doesn’t mean we will automatically do better, we felt like we could be more creative and original. At first, we were steering towards action or comedy. We decided against this because in order to create an action film capturing at the beginning, we might have needed equipment that we do not have a budget for. Also, if you pay attention you would be able to see that comedy film title sequences aren’t actually that funny in most cases and this could end up being fairly boring if it has no further context.

KEN PARK

Ken park is a youth drama film that we have been majorly inspired by. This whole film is sectioned off and about the lives of main 3/4 characters who somehow are also involved with each other. The thing that we really like about this opening sequence is that at the very end, something critically important happens that gives the rest of the film a motivation. That is exactly what we want our opening credits to do, except ours might be a bit more subtle.


SUBMARINE


Submarine is another youth drama film that we have taken inspiration from. What really stood out for us in this opening sequence is how shots of surrounding areas are used to create a specific atmosphere and mood for this film. This is what we want to do.
